Did you know that your Atlas vertebra (the first cervical vertebra that supports your skull) is misaligned in most people!
This crucial vertebra, often misaligned since birth, can influence your entire nervous system and body function throughout life. Through the groundbreaking Atlas Profilax® method, developed by René C. Schümperli, there now exists a unique, non-manipulative approach to addressing this fundamental misalignment, typically requiring just one session to create lasting change.
Neil Pont has helped over 7,000+ people with the Atlas Profilax here at GC Wellness Centre.
What is Atlas Profilax®?
The Atlas Profilax® method is unique worldwide; in under normal circumstances able to return a misaligned atlas with only one application accurately and safely. It consists of a specialised targeted massage to the short neck musculature designed to loosen the existing tension in those muscles and consequently to facilitate the return of the atlas in its natural position. This method does not employ any manipulative movements of the head or the neck.
By addressing these deep-seated patterns, the technique supports optimal nerve flow between the brain and body, potentially encouraging proper spinal alignment from top to bottom.
This method is non-medical and non-chiropractic.
Many individuals report significant changes following their Atlas Profilax® session. While experiences vary, common observations include:
This 60 minute appointment includes a comprehensive assessment, the application itself, and detailed aftercare guidance. A follow-up check appointment is included in the cost, usually two weeks later.
Atlas Profilax® stands as one of the safest approaches to addressing Atlas vertebra alignment, primarily because it doesn't involve manipulation of the spine or neck rotation. The technique, developed and refined over decades by René Schümperli, works with the body's natural mechanics through a precise vibrational approach to the soft tissues surrounding the Atlas vertebra.
Before any Atlas Profilax® application, Neil conducts a thorough evaluation including:
A comprehensive health history review
Assessment of current symptoms and concerns
Evaluation of posture and movement patterns
Discussion of expectations and potential outcomes
This detailed screening process helps ensure the procedure is appropriate for each individual's specific situation.

Hear from the Experts!
The Atlas vertebra (C1) represents one of the most crucial junctions in human anatomy, forming a complex biomechanical relationship between the skull and the rest of the spine.
Unlike other vertebrae, the Atlas possesses unique characteristics - it has no intervertebral disc, features a distinctive ring-like structure, which bears the considerable weight of the head (approximately 4-6kg).
The Atlas Profilax® method recognises the intricate relationship between various muscular systems and fascial connections. The suboccipital muscle group, deep cervical flexors, upper trapezius, sternocleidomastoid, and scalene muscles all work in concert with the myodural bridge, cervical fascia, cranial membranes, and spinal dura mater.
This complex network of tissues forms a sophisticated system that influences overall body function and posture.

Note: Atlas Profilax® has an excellent safety profile, it is offered as a lifestyle wellness approach rather than a medical treatment. We encourage maintaining regular care with your healthcare providers and discussing any concerns with them.
Degenerative & Myofascial Pain
In this study, a 46-year-old white male patient with severe chronic myofascial pain syndrome affecting his neck, thoracic and lumbar regions went through the Atlas method. Throughout the 9-month follow-up period, the symptoms of myofascial pain were nearly eradicated, leading to a substantial decrease in the use of painkillers with a remarkable improvement in the subject's mobility and overall quality of life.
Total Resorption of L4-L5 Disc
In this study, a 42-year-old diagnosed with dehydration, disc bulge and bilateral trapezius pain received the Atlas method. These symptoms were ameliorated after the session, with sciatic pain disappeared 1 week after and did not recur. Follow up 5 years later, the remaining symptoms had improved even further, suggesting the cervical musculature and deep fascia alterations assisted the case.
Body Balance & Performance
This study was conducted with 6 athletes from the Brazilian Olympic archery team to evaluate the impact of the Atlas intervention on body balance. The study found that the intervened athlete showed improved balance and reflexes, as indicated by superior scores in the risk of fall assessment and fall index. The results suggest the potential for the Atlas intervention to improve body balance and proprioception in high-performance athletes.
Temporomandibular Joint Disorders
A 30-year-old woman with chronic shoulder pain, cervicobrachial syndrome with functional motor loss and paresthesia, car-pal tunnel syndrome, tension-type headache, and temporomandibular disorders was referred for the application of the Atlas method. The symptoms of myofascial pain syndrome were nearly eradicated, leading to a substantial decrease in the use of painkillers with a remarkable improvement in quality of life.
"The Atlas vertebra is like the foundation of a building — when properly aligned, it supports the entire structure above it. Atlas Profilax® isn't just about neck alignment; it's about creating the conditions for your body's innate intelligence to express itself fully."
